Stephen Colbert And James Corden Delivered The VMA Parodies We Need

The 2016 MTV VMA’s were full of iconic, dramatic moments that will stick in our collective memories for a long time. Among the most anticipated guests were Beyoncé and Kanye West, who both provided entertaining but very serious performances — Bey with her emotional medley of Lemonade hits and Kanye with his four-minute freeform speech and video premiere of “Fade” starring Teyana Taylor.

Of course, these highlights were perfect fodder for comedic spinoffs. Both Stephen Colbert and James Corden took the opportunity to parody some of the moments on their respective shows. On The Late Late Show With James Corden, the host chose to lightheartedly mock the “Fade” video in the above segment called “Don’t Exercise in Kanye West’s Gym,” playing the role of a hygiene-obsessed, rule-following gym rat who just wants to work out amidst Teyana’s distracting dance moves and is completely befuddled by her outrageous routine.

Colbert, wearing the same outfit as Beyoncé in his opening segment of The Late Show chose to insert himself into the Queen B’s “Intuition” intro performance, silhouetted and responding after her poetic line “I tried to make a home out of you” to which he quips “I was the floorboards.” Watch his segment below.
