Jeff Tweedy Goes Ahead And Jokes About What Everybody Thinks Of Wilco’s Album Titles

Make no qualms about it, Wilco is one of those bands that might seem goofy and irreverent, but they’re an incredibly important band when it comes to the realm of alternative rock and have survived to keep releasing albums. That might not seem like a huge feat, but it’s rather impressive for a band to do as much as they have. That isn’t to say that there haven’t been line-up changes because there have been, but Jeff Tweedy and Stirrat have held it all together for over twenty years now. Now, with the release of Schmilco, well, people are talking about Wilco’s weird album titles again.

Schmilco is pretty weird, isn’t it? Luckily, Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy has a pretty damned good sense of humor when it comes to the band and their album titles, so this promo video for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has Tweedy sitting down to try to give some insight into Wilco’s past album titles while also unveiling a slew of titles for possible, future Wilco albums, each one as goofy as the last.

Here are a few of the better ones:

  • Ocliw
  • Songs or Whatever
  • Meet the Beatles, By Wilco
  • Christmas I Guess
  • Romeo And Juliet And Wilco
  • Big Wilco Style

There are a ton of them in there, though. Tweedy having a sense of humor about this is just another example of why Wilco has had such staying power in an industry that tends to wash out acts regularly.
