Jewel Joined Foo Fighters To Sing Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’

When you go to a Foo Fighters show, or to a Taylor Swift show, you can count on one thing happening: surprise appearances from celebrities! While Dave Grohl and company have brought out all sorts of rock and rollers and other assorted musicians for their concerts, on Friday they had perhaps their most surprising guest join them: noted Alaskan poet Jewel.

Yes, Jewel, best known for her acoustic guitar strumming love ballads, was brought out by the preeminent ‘90s rock band still going today to join them in Phoenix. Grohl himself seemed to acknowledge the unexpected appearance from Jewel, but they then took things to the next level of surprise. Grohl said that the two met in San Diego, and that he brought her along, stating that they had “picked some nice thing that we thought would sound good,” before Jewel decided they would, in fact, sing the hard rocking Led Zeppelin classic “Whole Lotta Love.”

Grohl and Jewel seem to enjoy trying to take on the song in the latest stop on the “Dave Grohl seems like he’s having a lot of fun” tour. Remember when all the talk was about Grohl’s broken leg? He certainly was able to make that an afterthought awfully fast. A litany of fun guests will do that. We remain vigilant in wait of how Swift will respond in the celebrity best friend wars.
