The death of musical icon Prince is on the minds of everyone since his untimely passing at the age of 57 on Thursday. However, some folks are making his death about themselves (We’re looking at you, Bieber) and others should not even talk about the Purple One.  Case in point, White House hopeful and Ohio Governor, John Kasich.

Someone asked Kasich to comment on Prince’s death and he responded with, “I feel badly about Prince, but not really though.” In a very Trumpish way, Kasich followed up with a nice left-handed compliment about the musician: “I never saw him in concert, that was a mistake for me not to be able to follow him, to see him in concert. He was an extraordinary musician.”

We’re already quite aware that Kasich isn’t a fan of funk, R&B, or hip hop. He bragged about throwing a CD by The Roots out of his car window after being appalled by the lyrics. Just think if someone gave Kasich an album by well, any other hip hop artist. He probably would have thrown a copy of Prince’s 1981 album, Controversy out of a car window if given the opportunity if he’s alarmed by racy lyrics. Kasich has spoken about his music listening habits before and considers himself a straight up rock guy. At a GOP Town Hall event back in February, the man who doesn’t eat pizza properly said that he likes Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, and Twenty One Pilots.
