Jon Bon Jovi was once one of the biggest rock stars in the world. Sure, these days, he’s hocking wares in weird advertisements that are a stark reminder that it isn’t the ‘80s anymore. However, at least he’s able to put on a brave face in those commercials. It’s business, after all, and he’s being paid. When Bon Jovi is at a wedding, though, as a private citizen, he doesn’t want to be asked to sing. This is readily apparent if you just look at his face while watching him sing in this wedding video.
Bon Jovi was minding his own business at a wedding reception in Miami. Unfortunately for him, the wedding band knew he was going to be there, so they prepared a jazzy rendition of Bon Jovi’s classic song “Livin’ on a Prayer” for the occasion. Band leader Lourdes Valentin said she approached Bon Jovi before the reception, and he said he absolutely did not want to sing. That should have been that… but it wasn’t.
Look, there was Bon Jovi at a wedding reception, here comes “Livin’ on a Prayer” on the set list, and what else was going to happen? Clearly, Bon Jovi felt the pressure to perform, to be a good sport. He was just unable to hide the disdain he had for what was happening. Next time Bon Jovi plans to attend a wedding reception, he’ll have to be sure to feign laryngitis. He’s earned the right.
