They say good things happen in threes (they also say that about bad things, but that’s beside the point). So with already a pair of huge alternative rock songs released from their 2016 sophomore album Folk Hop N’ Roll, Nashville’s Judah & The Lion go for the trifecta with their latest single, “Going To Mars.” Sure, it will be hard to match their previous heights — “Take It All Back” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, while “Suit And Jacket” topped out at No. 4 — but their newest single might be up for the task as it literally sets its sights on another world.

“We basically just got all of our friends together, dressed up like Blade Runner, and created our version of what Mars might look like with people on it,” mandolin player Brian Macdonald says of the video for the track. It features our neighbor planet as a harsh, unforgiving colony, where people need to dress warm and suffer through a pretty bleak existence. It’s an ambitious treatment for a song that stands apart from what the band has previously released, unafraid to get a little weirder than their previous offerings.
