Justin Timberlake And Pharrell Talked About New Music And Making ‘Justified’ On Beats 1

Justin Timberlake has been dropping hints about new music recently (although what that new music is for is still up for debate), putting up Instagram posts of him in the studio with Timbaland and Pharrell. But he’s still being mum about it all — at least for now.

In three separate clips previewing an upcoming conversation between Timberlake, Chad Hugo and Tyler, the Creator for Pharrell’s Beats 1 radio show OTHERtone, the guys get into new music from Timberlake, as well as making his debut album, Justified.

Granted, the pop singer doesn’t say much about new material in the preview (“It’s so in its infancy right now that I couldn’t say,” Timberlake offers), but maybe he’ll give a little bit more when the full chat drops.

However, it is cool hearing them all talk about their favorite parts from recording Justified, especially the creation of the album’s debut single, “Like I Love You.” Timberlake remembers how he went into the studio with Pharrell and Hugo, and how Hugo was strumming the guitar part that ultimately became such an integral part of the song.

“I remember feeling like, I was like, ‘I have to do my own record and I have to go solo,'” Timberlake explains. “And I knew that when I walked in and I heard that, it was a confirmation that these two guys were the answer to everything that I wanted to do.”
