Karen O Joins Willie Nelson In Chipotle Ad Campaign By Covering Willie Nelson

Back in August we told you about Willie Nelson covering Coldplay for a Chipotle ad campaign to increase awareness about the perils of factory farming. Now the freakishly banged Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has taken time off from producing her “psycho opera” to join the campaign. Incidentally, like Willie Nelson, she’s also doing a cover of a song made popular by another artist, and that artist is … wait for it … Willie Nelson.

Reports Pitchfork:

OneThirtyBPM points to a new short film, directed by David Altobelli and created for Chipotle’s campaign supporting small-scale agriculture. It’s called “Abandoned”, and features Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O’s rendition of “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys”, a song first recorded by Ed Bruce in 1975 and made popular by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings in 1978.

Seriously y’all, this is so good. Enjoy.

Freakishly banged.
