The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne Might Leak Their Project With Kesha

It’s safe to say that Miley Cyrus has spent her entire post-“Party In The USA” reformation following in the footsteps of artists like Kesha before, up to and including her collaborative album with The Flaming Lips. Kesha started working with the psych rockers way back in 2012 and even had a full album called Lip$ha in the works before Dr. Luke’s label put the kibosh on the project. Given recent events with the pop singer’s contract, Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne is now looking to leak the album.

Coyne posted a photo of himself, Kesha and Ben Folds to Instagram with a caption detailing his plans to leak the long-awaited album.

“Yesss… I will see if Kesha will let us leak the Lip$ha stuff… f*ck.. at least ONE song .. I jus don’t want her to have any MORE troubles because of it”

This isn’t the first time that Coyne has expressed regret over not being able to release their work together. In an interview with Radio.com, Coyne said that the music was “just spectacular.”

“The stuff that we did together was just spectacular, and it made us want to do more.I think we did like four or five songs, and then Kesha would remind me, ‘Wayne, I can’t put this music out, Dr. Luke will kill me.’ ”

Kesha is currently attempting to free herself from her record contract with Sony and Dr. Luke’s imprint, Kemosabe Records. An attempt to get an injunction allowing Kesha to record outside of her contract while the case is ongoing was denied last week. Kesha claims that Luke sexually assaulted her and has seen many musicians and other entertainers come out in support of her case. Dr. Luke and his lawyers say the claims are outright lies.
