RELATED: Jimmy Fallon, Idina Menzel And The Roots Perform The Oscar Winning ‘Let It Go’ With Kiddie Instruments
Unlike John Travolta, at least THEY’LL be able to pronounce Idina Menzel. Or was that Adele Dazeem?
Was it just me or was this the weakest of the live performances?
It was rushed for time, not weak. I would say Her, Bette and Pink, in that order were the only people who did well. It’s kind of shitty they let U2 stumble threw that shit then Hack up this song which should of been done in full.
I didn’t think it was bad, just the weakest of the nominees (which I should have clarified before because I didn’t even pay attention when Pink sang)
In fairness, Pharrell, Karen O and U2 were all pretty awesome, so it was a high bar to climb.
Someone on Twitter made a good point about the song’s placement within the show….why not put ‘Frozen’ and ‘Happy’ in the first hour when some kinds might still be awake to see them performed?
JH: Good point about the placement.
It wasn’t great… The orchestra and her were not in sync. I don’t think it really showcased how great the song is.
And yes JHirsby (Is there a way to tag people in here that I don’t know about?) – my daughter wanted to see that performance. I mean sure, I DVRed it but she was very excited to see it.
i think the sound guy hated her. he was probably in cahoots with john travolta.
My theater friends on facebook are saying that her voice sounded strained.
When you said “your theater friends” I read that as your “waiter” friends who have aspirations of being actors. I assume that, after saying her voice felt strained, they told you what tomorrow’s lunch special will be at the diner.
I read an interview with her earlier in the week and she says that it’s a really hard song for her. Maybe she over-practiced.
No, I mean people who were in theater in high school and have since moved on with their lives, and a person I know who is currently appearing in a broadway show.
Not the best performance but the woman won an Oscar and lets face it, the sound guy epically fails at life.
That performance did not do Idina justice. She is a wonderful performer and actually has a beautiful voice.
I dunno, despite a shaky start, I thought she ended the song pretty strong. Only performance that was better, was Pharell. Guy knows how to play up to a crowd
Don’t blame me, I would have voted for Pharrell.
I would love the song… if it wasn’t for the “OMGEEE, BEST SONG EVAAAA!!!!111!” crowd on the internet that can’t stop covering that song left and right.
It’s a “Meh” song at best. The movie has better songs, the one with the sisters about the snowman at the beginning is a better song, for example.
If they had the little girls singing that on stage, I would have died. It was way past their bedtime.
