Let The Pixies' Never-Ending Reunion Roll On With The New Song 'Indie Cindy'

The Pixies formed in 1986 and broke up only seven years later, in 1993. During that time, they released four must-own albums, Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, Bossanova, and Trompe le Monde, as well as an equally essential EP, Come On Pilgrim. Black Francis & Co. got back together in 2004, and they’re still going strong(ish), even without bassist Kim Deal. Their reunion is a blatant money grab — Francis has said as much — and today comes the inevitable “new music,” in the form of a four-track EP-1, recorded by Gil Norton, who also looked after Surfer Rosa and Doolittle.

I want to be mad at the Pixies, considering how transparent it is they just need our allowance, but then they go and release a song like “Indie Cindy,” and suddenly, I’m 15 years old again, listening to “Debaser” for the first time. Damn you, Pixies, for being so damn good.
