Lorde Debuted An Explosive New Song Called ‘Homemade Dynamite’ At Coachella

After surprising southern California with a tiny performance at the infamous underplay Pappy & Harriet’s, Lorde further surprises audiences at Coachella tonight by teasing a new song off her upcoming sophomore album Melodrama. As someone who got to hear that title track performed live this weekend, I’m even more excited than ever to hear it, but tonight’s “Homemade Dynamite” doubles down on those same feelings. Lorde’s rollout for her new album has been complete with two new official singles — the slow-building sadness-banger of “Green Light” and the absolutely devastating ballad “Liability” — and a singular interview with The New York Times in which she doubles down on her love for pop music.

Of course, Lorde understands so much about the interplay between celebrity and fandom that a lot of pop stars lose throughout their career, that she’s already miles ahead. “Homemade Dynamite” helps reveal just how geared toward the dissolution of romantic love her new album is going to be. Let’s just say that Melodrama is by no means an understatement. That can only be a good thing at this point. Watch a clip of the new track above and several more below.
