Low’s Cover Of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’ Is Devastating And Beautiful

Low is about as understated as a band can be. For 20 years, the members of the Duluth, Minnesota, trio have been making stark, bittersweet minimalism sound gorgeous and enchanting, so it came as quite the surprise when they covered Rihanna’s “Low” at the Pitchfork Music Festival back in July. The performance went over so well — slowed-down pop songs stripped to their essence are quite often great, like Richard Thompson’s “Oops!…I Did It Again” — that they recorded a studio version, which you can hear below (and purchase on iTunes; all proceeds go to charity]. If Low covers “We Found Love” next, I might lose it.
