M.I.A. has been teasing new stuff for a while now, dropping little hints of what she’s working on, in both the audio and visual mediums, on her Instagram. Well, Apple Music announced on their Twitter that finally we will to see what she’s been conjuring up on Monday. Her project, “Matahdatah Scroll 01 Broader Than A Border,” will come out exclusively through Apple Music.
The project will involve a couple new songs, reportedly two, and an accompanying short film. A little while back, M.I.A. announced on her Instagram a 12-minute short film and a three song mixtape, although now it’s reportedly down to two songs. However, all these little dribs and drabs and rumors and murmurs are finally going to become something concrete in the near future. M.I.A. usually has something interesting going on, and has always taken her aesthetics as seriously as her music, so there is reason to be excited about this.
