Back in 1985, a year before Licensed to Ill came out, Madonna invited the not-yet-famous Beastie Boys to open for her on her Virgin Tour. Say what you will about Madonna, she knows talent when she sees it. Madonna’s ’80s teenybopper fans on the other hand decidedly did not see talent, and the Beastie Boys were booed off stage nearly every night.
It wasn’t a complete wash, though. Aside from the whole skyrocketing fame thing a year later, as Madonna told Jimmy Fallon on last night’s Tonight Show, Ad-Rock (otherwise known as Adam Horovitz) got to make out with Madonna in the bathroom after one of their shows. Ad-Rock may be too much of a gentleman to kiss and tell, but that’s why we have Madonna.
