Marilyn Manson Clarifies His Involvement In That Controversial Lana Del Rey Video

As you may recall, last month a very rapey video featuring Eli Roth, Lana Del Rey and Marilyn Manson was leaked online. Rumors soon spread that this was footage for an unreleased music video for Manson, but a rep for the singer quickly released a statement denying it.

With just a month away from the release of his new album The Pale Emperor, Manson has finally revealed details about the role he played in the production of the video. From NME:

“It wasn’t a Marilyn Manson video. The editor of the company that put it out was somebody who’s edited my videos, that video was something that was done with a camera that Eli (Roth – director), who’s my friend, and I both wanted to test out, so I let him test it out […] what they filmed was put in context seemingly as if it were a Marilyn Manson video, and that was in no way the intention.”

Seems good enough. According to Manson, he was gung ho about actually making a video with Del Rey, but apparently she was difficult to work with:

“Eli and I wanted to do a music video with her but she was being such a problem,” he said. “Although I still respect her, I’m friends with her. I just left, I was tired, I was not willing to make that part of the video. Eli and I originally had intentions of making a video with her, but that is not the intention that is represented in that film clip because that is not what I filmed, not for my video.”

Now that’s when it gets a little hard to believe. Just seems like a slick coincidence that he’d leave at exactly the right point to miss out on the controversial portion of the video. It’s also hard to believe that this just isn’t the type of video Marilyn Manson would make:

“[People] put it together with my other clips. And it really strongly stands out of place, it doesn’t really make sense. I would not make a video of that nature, nor would Eli. I don’t think either of us were ever intending for that to be seen, it was more of a camera test. I’m a person that would beat somebody’s ass if they raped somebody that I know.”

Well thankfully, that has all been cleared up. My only issue is if Manson says he wouldn’t make a senseless music video, then how does he explain almost every music video he has ever made? Also, Hostel does exist. On a different, but still semi-related note, poor Juice.
