Patti Smith Recorded A Song For The ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’ Series Finale

Aqua Teen Hunger Force has somehow remained on the air for 13 seasons. But all of the inexplicable explosions, ridiculous cameos and sudden name changes are coming to an end on Sunday night. The series’ final episode, “The Last One Forever and Ever (For Real This Time) (We F*cking Mean It)” will feature an original song by punk rock singer-songwriter Patti Smith.

The song, “Aqua Teen Dream” is incredibly on-the-nose, directly referencing the ending of the show and the fact that ATHF has shockingly survived this long. It will probably go down in history as the saddest song to contain the word “Meatwad.” Check out the video above and the lyrics below, courtesy of Pitchfork:

I never dreamed
I’d be an Aqua Teen
Thirteen seasons
What did it mean?
A Master Shake
Meatwad, a floating head
And now you’re dead
And it’s the end
Of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”
It’s the end
Of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”

Adult Swim has a history of pulling off crazy musical stunts and collaborations, and no show was more of a magnet for musicians than the brief, absurdist episodes of ATHF. The series saw appearances by T-Pain, Andrew W.K., Josh Homme, and had its instantly recognizable theme song performed by Schoolly D.
