President Obama Joined Justin Timberlake To Sing An Otis Redding Classic

The nice thing about saying “an Otis Redding classic” is that it could be ANY song in Otis Redding’s stellar discography, as he’s one of the few musicians who never released a bad song. But the “classic” in question is the only song of Redding’s to hit #1 on the Billboard charts: “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.”

Last night, Barack and Michelle Obama hosted another installment of In Performance at the White House. The event’s theme: Memphis soul music, including Redding, whose “Dock” was performed by Memphis-born boy, Justin Timberlake. President Obama helped out, too, even though he’s not from Tennessee, but we’ll let it slide. This time.
