President Obama Had To Desperately Stress That He’s Not The Lead Singer Of Korn

If you were to make a bet that President Obama would ever mention the nu-metal band Korn in a press conference, in any capacity, you would probably lose. In what context would Jonathan Davis and his band of rap-rock cohorts ever be relevant to the office of the Presidency, you ask?

Fair question, and it had to do with an Army Captain Florent Groberg being in a dazed state while meeting with Obama. Groberg was still recovering earlier this year from preventing a suicide bomber from carrying out his mission in Afghanistan back in 2012, when he had a chance encounter with the President:

“He woke up in a hospital bed in a little bit of a haze. He wasn’t sure, but he thought he was in Germany and someone was at his bedside talking to him. And he thought it was the lead singer from the heavy metal band Korn… Flo thought, ‘What’s going on? Am I hallucinating?’ But he wasn’t. It was all real. And so today, Flo, I want to assure you, you are not hallucinating. You are actually in the White House. Those cameras are on. I am not the lead singer from Korn. We are here to award you our nation’s highest military distinction.”

Groberg received the Medal of Honor for his service, and after three years and 33 surgeries, his leg that was injured in the skirmish was saved. If you’d ask him, he’d probably say life is peachy. (Sorry, we had to get one Korn pun in.)

Oh, and if you were wondering, the actual lead singer of Korn was just as confused as you were with this news.
