During his professional life, Prince cultivated a reputation for being one of the most exhilarating live performers on the planet. On April 21st, the two-year anniversary of his death, fans of the “Purple One” will get to revisit just a taste of what he was like live thanks to a special, one-off concert being organized by his estate. They’re calling it Prince: Live on the Big Screen, and it’s set to go down in his native Minneapolis amidst at the city’s Target Center arena.

While holograms have become all the rage ever since Dr. Dre brought Tupac back from the dead at Coachella in 2012, this event will feature “remastered and never-before-released” audio and video footage of Prince performing alongside a live band made up of some of the singer’s collaborators as well as an array of yet-to-be-revealed special guests.

Despite a protracted legal battle, Prince’s estate, as well as his close friends and musical partners have gone above and beyond in the last couple of years to keep his memory alive. His iconic backing group The Revolution has hit the road, bringing his music to the masses. There was the re-mastered and expanded re-issue of his immortal album Purple Rain. In September, Showtime aired his long, lost film Sign O’ The Times. And of course, his home, Paisley Park, has been converted into a Graceland-style museum to his life and work.

Tickets to thePrince: Live on the Big Screen go on sale beginning January 20th at 10 a.m. and can be purchased through the Target Center’s box office.
