Prince Forbade The Kardashians From Appearing In His ‘New Girl’ Episode

Prince loved the color purple, pissing off his record company, and pancakes. He didn’t share the same warm feelings for the Kardashians. Not just Kim, who he memorably kicked off the stage while performing at Madison Square Garden, but the entire family. So much so that, according to Zooey Deschanel, Prince nixed a Kardashian cameo (kameo?) in his New Girl episode.

And it was his episode, which centered around a party thrown at his butterfly-infested mansion. Deschanel told Conan O’Brien that members of the Kardashian family also filmed cameos, but “it turns out that someone from Prince’s camp said, ‘Who are the celebrities? I hope it’s not a Kardashian.’ It’s really sad because Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner had very kindly come in and shot the scene… I felt so bad, but Prince was running the show.”

The Purple One wanted all traces of the Kardashians removed. So the New Girl crew gathered every script and call sheet, basically anything with the dreaded K-word on it, and had it all burned in an on-set bonfire. I’m picturing the end of The Wicker Man, except with one of Kim’s many apps repeating the word “tragic” in the flames. Maybe New Girl can revisit that idea in season six.
