The Revolution Will Reunite In Honor Of Prince

Prince, over the course of his storied career, played with a lot of different musicians and backing bands. However, arguably his most famous backing band was The Revolution, who played with him during the ‘80s, and who were featured in the movie Purple Rain, making them fairly prominent for a backing band. In fact, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, both members of The Revolution, had lines and were given their own credits in the film. The band broke up in 1986, and have reunited twice since then, once in 2003, and once in 2012. Now, though, in the wake of Prince’s death, The Revolution have decided to get together again to honor their fallen colleague.

“We have decided, after spending three or four days now grieving over the loss of Prince, that we would like to come out and do some shows,” said Melvoin in a video shared by Brown Mark, bassist of The Revolution. The entire “classic” lineup will be part of it, which includes Wendy, Lisa, Brown Mark, Doctor Fink, and Bobby Z.

Nothing officially is nailed down, but the reunion is apparently happening “soon.” This seems like it will be their most substantive reunion since their first breakup. It’s unfortunate it has to be under such somber circumstances. Hopefully their reunion provides a fitting tribute to Prince.
