R. Kelly Says He Has No Idea Who Dave Chappelle Is

Years before “Drip Drop,” there was “I want to pee on you, drip drip drip.”

“Piss on You” is an underrated Chappelle’s Show gem, and not quoted nearly as much as some other sketches (this is not a bad thing), with Dave Chappelle doing a pitch-perfect R. Kelly impression. It aired in March 2003, during season one and shortly after Kelly was hit with child pornography charges.

In season two, Chappelle told the in-studio audience that he had been confronted in Chicago by the agitated “Ignition (Remix)” singer, who asked, “How you gonna make a video about peeing on somebody?” Chappelle’s response: “How you gonna make a video about peeing on somebody?”

Well played. Anyway, in a must-read GQ profile, Kelly plays dumb when asked about “Piss on You.” In fact, he has no idea who Chappelle is.

You must have seen that Dave Chappelle skit.
“No, I haven’t.”

He did several clips on his show.
“David Chappelle? [as though trying to place the name] David Chappelle? I don’t…”

Chappelle’s Show. Very famous.
“Okay…comedian?”

Really famous comedian.
“Okay, a comedian. Okay… go on.”

And acting as you, he did a parody of “Ignition (Remix)” called “Piss on You.”
“Mmmm.” (Via)

“Mmmm.”

There’s almost no chance Kelly hasn’t seen “Piss on You,” and the odds of him not knowing who Chappelle is are even smaller. He was in You’ve Got Mail! But Kelly plays naive, and gives a trite statement about being “more than okay with who I am and who I have become today as a man,” because haters gonna hate. And lovers wanna love. I don’t even want none of the above. I want to piss on you (and anyone who disrespects Mel Brooks).
