Rae Sremmurd’s ‘Start A Party’ Video Is The Party All Their Songs Sound Like

Rae Sremmurd did it again with SremmLife 2. The pair of Mississippi brothers pieced together another fun album full of club bangers and shockingly potent, slower numbers harking on the ups and downs of a modern relationship. Anchored by Swae Lee, the youngest and soon to be solo member of the duo, Rae Sremm thrives with energetic, thumping production and infectious melodies. That’s the recipe and after two albums and a couple Top 40 hits, they’ve just about mastered it.

Their latest video, “Start A Party” is everything about peak Rae Sremmurd personified. It’s loud, lively, bouncy and endearingly full of youthful exuberance. From Swae’s admission that he’s not a drug dealer just that he’s got “a whole lot of drugs with me,” to the red plastic cup and drinks straight out the bottle aesthetic of the party, it’s all meant to be fun and it is.

For as much Swae is the artistic center of the Rae Sremm sphere, it’s usually Slim Jxmmy that’s the life of the party and this video is no different. While Swae plays it cool, Jxmmy is bouncing around, manning the DJ booth and imprinting his personality onto the video every second he’s on screen. Admittedly, “Start A Party” isn’t the best song on SremmLife 2 — that’s a toss up between “Black Beatles” with Gucci Mane and “Now That I Know” depending on the day — but the song plus the video is everything people love about the Rae Sremm balled up into a three-and-a-half minute package for your viewing and listening pleasure.
