While it’s probably in the back of most of her fans’ minds to yell “JUST MAKE A NEW DAMN RECORD ALREADY,” Rihanna has been very relaxed in her approach towards album No. 8. Hey, when you’re spending the whole summer in a bikini on Instagram, you aren’t really hearing those complaints. But there is some slightly good news that may suggest she’s planning to get back to her day job.

Variety is reporting that the singer will be joining The Voice in its ninth season in a role as a “key adviser.” This person is not a coach, but rather helps the coaches with major decisions. Previous key advisers have been Coldplay’s Chris Martin, fun.’s Nate Ruess, and Taylor Swift. Hopefully this can spice the show – which has slumped in quality as of late – up a bit.

The good news for Rihanna fans is her joining a huge production like The Voice is a large promotional move, perhaps for the upcoming #R8? Maybe we are close to hearing what the album has to offer in addition to “FourFiveSeconds,” “American Oxygen,” and “B*tch Better Have My Money.” The layover since 2012’s Unapologetic has been the longest of her career, but that kind of thing doesn’t seem like it would faze someone like Rihanna too much.

When you’re partying on the islands with beads on your butt, what else is there really to care about? We totally understand.
