Rockin’ 1000 Takes On David Bowie’s ‘Rebel Rebel’ In A Passionate Tribute

Rockin’ 1000 has performed mind blowing covers of modern rock classics from The White Stripes, the Foo Fighters, and Nirvana, but during the massive band’s latest gig in Italy the army of rockers were able to pull of a fitting tribute to the late David Bowie.

The group – which consists of hundreds of vocalists, guitarists, bass players, drummers, keyboardists, bagpipe players, violinists and maybe even an oboe and bassoon player or two – packed Orogel Stadium in Cesena, Italy and performed Bowie’s 1974 Diamond Dogs hit single “Rebel Rebel.” The band, based right in Cesena, gained worldwide attention for their impressive cover of “Lean to Fly” by the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl and Company were so impressed that they performed a concert in Cesena last November and invited Rockin’ 1000 organizers up on stage with them.

It seems like the monolithic music group trend isn’t going to be stopping anytime soon. Last month the Toronto-based Choir! Choir! Choir! performed a chilling rendition of “Hallelujah” and have gotten attention in the past for their tribute to another musical icon we lost this year, Prince. Despite Rockin’ 1000 being based out of Italy and Choir! Choir! Choir! hailing from Canada, we think someone needs to organize the world’s largest battle of the bands and see these two behemoths duke it out.
