Ryan Adams’ cover album of Taylor Swift’s 1989 is mere days away from release, and Adams celebrated by revealing his cover of “Bad Blood” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show this morning.

Adams pulls back a bit of the original’s bombast without going full-on “coffee shop singer-songwriter cover,” revealing something that anyone being honest with themselves can tell you: Taylor Swift crafts excellent, tight pop songs.

In addition to the release of “Bad Blood,” Adams revealed that the album will drop digitally on September 21. The album will be available for pre-order on iTunes at midnight EST tonight (September 17). On release day, Adams has an interview with Zane Lowe at 9 a.m. PST that will include a “special guest.” The obvious answer to who this guest is is Taylor Swift herself, but it might just be Becky.

Swift shared her excitement over the impending covers album on Twitter, saying that Adams “helped shape [her] songwriting,” and calling the whole idea “surreal and dreamlike.”
