Scott Eastwood Says He Was Encouraged Not To Do That Taylor Swift Video

Scott Eastwood is starting to carve out a name for himself in showbiz, beyond simply being “Clint Eastwood’s son.” Considering what Clint is up to these days, this is probably for the best. He can currently be seen in the motion picture Suicide Squad, if you decide to not listen to critical reception. Before that, though, he could be seen in the music video for Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.” Eastwood played Swift’s love interest in the video. However, had Eastwood’s agents had their say, he wouldn’t have been in the video at all.

Recalling his role in the video, Eastwood said, ““None of my agents wanted me to do it, actually. They said, ‘Oh, we don’t want you to do that! Why would you be Taylor Swift’s boy toy?’ and I said, ‘Why the hell not?’” The video’s concept presupposes that Swift and Eastwood are actors in 1950s Africa falling in love. It was a tremendous success, it has been viewed over 475 million times, although the video also took heat in terms of accusations of whitewashing and colonialism.

However, none of this seems to have hindered Eastwood. Nobody thinks of him as Taylor Swift’s “boy toy,” perhaps because they are too busy being obsessed with Swift’s actual love life. He got paid to be in a music video for arguably the most popular musician in the world right now. Score one for Scott Eastwood over his agents.
