Sleater-Kinney (And Fred Armisen) Do An Excellent B-52s Impression For Their Cover Of ‘Rock Lobster’

Sleater-Kinney have absolutely killed the covers game here lately. We already shared their seasonally appropriate take on the Ramones, and now we have a cover that’s great no matter the time of year. During their stop at New York City’s Terminal 5 on December 13, they took on the B-52’s classic “Rock Lobster” with Fred Armisen playing the role of fellow Fred, Fred Schneider.

Armisen – who co-stars in Portlandia with S-K guitarist Carrie Brownstein – was incredibly game for the whole song. He ran around the stage, flopped on the ground, pretended to swim and bashed the hell out of a cowbell. The only person on stage who seemed to be having more fun than Armisen was lead vocalist Corin Tucker. It seems she’d been waiting for a chance to whip out her dolphin impersonation and she ran with it here.
