Even though I wouldn’t be willing to brave the rabid crowds at Jazz Fest to see Springsteen live, The Band’s “The Weight” is one of my all-time favorite songs, so when The Boss’ tribute to the recently deceased Levon Helm from last night’s Newark concert hit the web this morning I was ready to share it with you guys ASAP. Unfortunately, that version was rendered unembeddable. Fortunately, the version after the jump popped up and is embeddable. Unfortunately, it will probably suffer a similar fate and you’ll have to go here to watch and listen.
Regardless, it’s recommended. “The Weight” is the song Bruce was born to cover.
