Steven Adler Finally Gets His Chance To Reunite With Guns N’ Roses

Last night at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, something unthinkable happened. (No, the Bengals didn’t win an important game; something better.) Former drummer of Guns N’ Roses, Steven Adler, joined his old bandmates and surprised fans by appearing on stage and sitting in on their ’80s headbanger hits “Out ta Get Me” and “My Michelle.” Other than a quick reunion in 2012 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction — which frontman Axl Rose was not present for — it was the first time Adler had been in the spotlight with his bandmates since 1990, when he was fired for his uncontrollable drug use. He was replaced by current drummer Matt Sorum, who has also since left the group. The current drummer is Frank Ferrer, who remained on stage during Adler’s cameo. According to Blabbermouth.net:

Singer Axl Rose introduced the drummer to the Brown Stadium crowd by simply saying: “On the drums, you might know this guy. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Steven Adler.” After playing “Out Ta Get Me,” Axl said: “I guess we should do another.

The current touring lineup features singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, second keyboardist Melissa Reese, guitarist Richard Fortus and drummer Frank Ferrer. The group will continue their comeback tour, probably without Adler, through September, but it was a nice touch to see the band even more whole.
