Kendrick Lamar Announces That His New Album Is Coming Next Week

In his song “The Heart Part 4,” Kendrick Lamar teased that something was going to happen on April 7. Now that we’re on the cusp of that date, it seems like our hopes for a full album have been dashed. It’s not all bad news though, Kenny just wants to make us wait a little while longer for his next release. According to this listing on iTunes, we can expect to receive his next project, a 14-track collection currently titled ALBUM, on April 14.

Kendrick shook up the entire, rap-loving world when he dropped “The Heart Part 4” last month. People couldn’t get over the shade he threw to some of the other big names in the game. He proclaimed himself to be “the greatest rapper alive,” then set his sights on either Drake, Big Sean or maybe both, but potentially neither when he rapped, “My fans can’t wait for me to son your punk ass / And crush your whole sh*t,” he raps at one point, “Tip-toeing around my name / N***a you lame / And when I get at you homie don’t you tell me you just playin / ‘Oh I was just playin K.Dot you know a n***a ride with you bro.”

Even more enticing was this line: “You know what time it is, ante up, this is in forever / Y’all got ’til April the 7th to get ya’ll sh*t together.” Many keyed into that date as the moment when Kendrick would drop his next, full-length project. Turns out they were wrong, but only slightly.

Hey, I warned you not to get your hopes up.
