Rappers dropping the names of famous people in their songs is nothing new. Something that’s kind of new, though, is those famous people responding. That’s what Susan Sarandon, who was name-dropped in Action Bronson’s verse on “1 Train,” off A$AP Rocky’s 2013 album Long.Live.A$AP, did Tuesday on Twitter. “You see us scrambling, selling Susan Sarandon,” Bronson spits.
This tweet of hers… so many thoughts and questions come to mind upon reading it.
Like, did Sarandon just hear “1 Train?” The album came out two years ago. Was she at the gym or something and someone pointed this out to her? Maybe her kids told her about it? Either way, you’d have thought word would’ve gotten to her sooner.
Bronson isn’t exactly talking about her when he references her in the song, though. “Selling Susan Sarandon” means slinging cocaine, not Thelma and Louise DVDs. Does Sarandon know this? Is this a common name for coke? Does Bronson have a favorite Sarandon movie? I bet it’s Bull Durham. Rocky does have a thing for older redheads.
No.
No.
Yes.
Yes.
Hell yeah
