Don’t Count On Seeing Taylor Swift At The MTV Video Music Awards

If you need someone to help you move or be your VMA plus one on Sunday, please cross Taylor Swift‘s name off your list. She’ll be busy that day, thank you very much.

According to celebrated “how’s Jennifer Aniston doing?” publication People, you shouldn’t expect to see Taylor dancing like a white girl stereotype at this Sunday’s ceremony. People‘s source says this is due to two factors: 1) Taylor never planned on attending the thing and 2) she still has no plans to attend the Madison Square Garden event.

“Taylor was never scheduled to attend the VMAs,” explained the insider that People spoke with. Presumably Tom Hiddleston will not be attending either, although there’s a chance he’s a die-hard DNCE fan that would crestfallen if he didn’t see Joe Jonas’ new outfit win the Best New Artist prize in-person. (Note: DNCE winning this award will not happen and should not happen.)

The optics for Taylor passing on the ceremony while Kanye West gets four minutes to do what he wants in his Blank Space® are intriguing, but likely misleading. We can’t imagine Taylor would be in the mood to hang out in the same large multipurpose arena with her phone pal Kanye, although that’s probably not what’s in play.

Is there a major Taylor Swift record on the way? No. Does she have something else to promote or Moonmen to scoop? Nope. It seems like loads of fun to get blitzed and attend an award show with Adele, Beyoncé, and Drake, but she’s already had a number of award show memories built up so far. (Not all pleasant.) Taking time off seems like a sensible course of action. If someone’s going to have a pop at Taylor this weekend, they won’t be checking to see if she’s around anyway.
