Taylor Swift Will Not Perform At This Year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

At this point in her career, it is a bit surprising that Taylor Swift hasn’t headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show yet. She’s put out five albums, with her most recent record, 1989, taking up a spot on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart for each of the last 34 weeks.

Basically, her widespread appeal and popular music makes her the perfect person to perform at the Super Bowl. Considering that she has the biggest album in the country right now, it would probably make sense that she does it this year, right?

Well, according to Access Hollywood, it’s not going to happen, despite rumors swirling around that Swift was finalizing a deal to perform at Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7, 2016 in Santa Clara. If you’re wondering why, blame soda, because a source told Access Hollywood that Swift’s deal with Diet Coke causes a conflict with the NFL’s Pepsi-sponsored halftime show.

It is a bit unfortunate, because Swift would probably put on a really good show, but the silver lining to all of this is it means we’re one step closer to Run The Jewels headlining the 2016 Super Bowl Halftime Show (I am aware that this probably won’t happen, but this would rule).
