If all you got for your 18th birthday was a ceremonious lottery ticket or trip to the bank to receive your first credit card, you are not Shawn Mendes. Ringing in this milestone birthday this past Monday, the newly turned adult and “Stitches” singer received a plethora of social media love from a slew of his famous friends.
Nick Jonas, a fellow former teen star, shouted out the barely legal singer-songwriter to his 10.8 million Twitter followers encouraging the Handwritten artist to keep going.
Happy birthday Shawn! You continue to evolve and push yourself. It's great to see. Keep doing your thing bro. @ShawnMendes

The Russian-German Grammy-award winning musician, Zedd also took part in the celebration by spewing his love for Mendes with a sentiment embellished with an agglomeration of exclamation points (eight, to be exact) and an accompanying photo.
Yoooo happy birthday @ShawnMendes !!!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/sZ997sODXi

However, the most notable A-list love thrown Mendes’ way was that of Taylor Swift. Conveying her birthday wishes through song, Swift lip synced her 1989 tour opener’s hit track “Treat You Better” via Snapchat. Donning an overwhelmingly vibrant cat sweatshirt, the influential (if not now also notorious) “Bad Blood” singer noted that her pal’s birthday happens to fall on the same day as International Cat Day.

Mendes rose to chart topping fame following getting discovered on Vine at only 15 years old. That same year, he was signed by Island Records through which he released his debut single, “Life of the Party.” I don’t know about you, but at 18 I certainly wasn’t getting well wishes from half of the Kim K/T-Swift feud, and at 15 my greatest accomplishment was getting my braces off.
