Prior to just a few minutes ago I didn’t know much about Matthew Dear other than that he’s a bit of avant-garde electronica artist whose name I’ve seen on Pitchfork a few times. But this Charles Bergquist-directed video he released this morning — the first single from his album Black City — is simply beautiful.

As Pitchfork notes, it features “a model-looking chick rolling around on a bed and mysterious black inkblots floating in front of the camera, all rendered in sumptuous black-and-white. There’s a whole lot of atmosphere at work here.” Yes, there is indeed! It sort of has the feel of a fragrance commercial (A Calvin Klein commercial, perhaps?) made by Andy Warhol. Enjoy.
