Paul Wall Helped Fit Houston’s Football Coach Tom Herman For A Grill

Tom Herman did a great job in his first season as head coach of the Houston Cougars. He led the team to the AAC title, and their only loss on the season was without their starting quarterback Greg Ward Jr. for the bulk of the game. Herman’s success led to a new contract extension that doubled his salary. That’s a good thing, because he’s got to finance his new diamond grill.

It all started with an offhand comment from Herman wherein he said that, should Houston win the AAC title this year, he would get a diamond grill. The Cougars did just that, and Herman decided to be a man of his word. On Tuesday, he got fitted for his grill, with the help of rapper Paul Wall. Now, Wall was not only involved simply because he is probably the person most associated with grills, at least in the world of music. He’s also a Houston native who frequently shouts out Houston sports teams in his songs.

So, basically, helping to fit Houston’s football coach for a diamond grill because he won a conference title is probably his dream come true.

The reported value of Herman’s grill, according to jeweler TV Johnny, who has also provided grills for Kanye West and Lil’ Jon, is a little less than $15,000. However, that’s probably a small price to pay for the exposure this gives him with recruits. You think high school kids don’t want to play for the dude who got a diamond grill and hung out with Paul Wall? That’s not a step Nick Saban is willing to take. Maybe Lane Kiffin, though…
