Bob Dylan first performed for David Letterman back in 1984, two years into Letterman’s stay in late-night television. His last performance on the show was in 1993, performing “Forever Young.” It would only be fitting that Dylan would follow that performance by returning to the Late Show and playing as the final musical guest with the song “The Night We Called It A Day.”

Comparing the 1984 appearance to this latest, final performance is almost like comparing night and day. As outlined over at Vulture, the original was a strange gig that featured a different surge of energy compared to other Dylan performances. Tuesday night’s performance put things to rest in the best way possible, particularly if you’re a Dylan fan. Enjoy.
