Weezer And Best Coast Swipe Right On Each Other In The Tinder-Spoofing ‘Go Away’

While Weezer has provided fans with countless hours of joy from their several great albums (we are NOT dipping into the falloff after Green album conversation), they’re just like us at the end of the day. They put their pants on one leg at a time, they have to wait in line at the post office, and they look for love on dating apps like Tinder. Now, most of us can’t swipe right on Best Coast‘s Bethany Cosentino, but still, more or less just like us.

In the new clip for “Go Away” from the 2014 album Everything Will Be Alright in the End, we see frontman Rivers Cuomo go through several changes to fit into what Bethany would like… a punk, a surfer, a frat boy, an executive and more. Despite all this, he’s still the same loser dude he always was.

Without spoiling the ending, Rivers eventually triumphs, but not without some underhanded trickery. It’s a little Pick Up Artist-ish, yeah, but he still manages to somehow make it seem sweet. We know how that sounds, but just watch the video and you’ll understand.
