Franklin Graham: Jesus will announce his 2nd coming via social media

For generations, Jesus freaks have been claiming that the second coming of Christ was just around the corner — based on their own creative interpretations of the bible, known in some circles as delusion — a time in which believers would be swept away on the Lord’s chariot during the Rapture, whisked off into the clouds to live forever to a soundtrack of harp music with their arrogant, petty, insecure God. This sadly remains the case to this very day, and it’s starting to reach fever pitch levels, what with the dreaded 2012, the year in which virtually all doomsday religious folk believe the world will end, just around the corner.

So Franklin Graham, the birther son of famed evangelical Christian preacher Billy Graham, and others like him are tapping into those fears and beliefs, just as other men of the cloth have done for centuries. (“Here comes the collection plate folks! Now remember, you wouldn’t want to be left behind just because you didn’t give enough of your hard-earned money to the church, would you?”) But Graham is taking it a step further, stating that he believes when Jesus does finally embark on his comeback tour, he’ll announce it via social media like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube, just like all the other hip artists are doing these days.

The Bible says that every eye is going to see (the second coming). How is the whole world going to see (Jesus Christ) all at one time? I don’t know, unless all of a sudden everybody’s taking pictures and it’s on the media worldwide. I don’t know. Social media could have a big part in that…

Everybody’s got their phone up and everybody’s taking recordings and posting it on YouTube and whatever and sending it to you, and it gets shown around the world.”

He knows that Jesus is already on Twitter and Facebook, right?
