Everyone has those annoying friends on Facebook who drive you insane with updates about their efforts to procreate — ultrasound photos, status updates on vaginal dilation during labor, endless baby photo spam, etc. — and these people deserve to be universally reviled, ridiculed and loathed with the intensity of a million white-hot suns, obviously. But the smoldering hate we feel for those people will likely pale in comparison to the hate in the heart of a teenager whose parents named him or her “Like” because they, the parents, like Facebook so much.
An Israeli couple likes Facebook so much that they named their newborn daughter “Like.” You know as in the like icon on the popular Palo Alto-based social-networking site.
“To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel,” the father told the German Press Agency dpa. “If once people gave Biblical names and that was the icon, then today [the Facebook Like] is one of the most famous icons in the world.”
On the other hand, I suppose being named “Like” beats having your mother kill you because you interrupted her Farmville session. Or does it?!
