Did Hillary Clinton Supporters Shut Down A Bunch Of Bernie Sanders Facebook Groups With Porn?

Wonder what Rosario Dawson or Monica Lewinsky would think about this. Apparently, Hillary Clinton supporters shut down various pro-Bernie Sanders Facebook pages by flooding them with porn GIFs, and then reporting them to Facebook.

Heavy.com has a comprehensive report on what may or may not have happened. According to the site, a number of pro-Bernie Facebook groups were removed from Facebook at the same time on Monday night. Some of these groups had over 50,000 members. Before the removals, the groups had been flooded with porn GIFs, some that may be illegal, according to one Bernie supporter:

Erica Libenow, another member of a Bernie group, said, “We had what looked like a kiddie porn posted in one of our groups today. I reported that one. Seriously made me want to vomit.”

Facebook reinstated the groups in question later Monday night. As an alternative explanation, there may have been a bug that shut down lots of other groups, not just Bernie groups.

People were accusing pro-Hillary Clinton PACs like Correct The Record for being part of the attack. Correct The Record is dedicated to helping Clinton supporters fight online harassment. They denied being part of the attack to The Hill.

Someone posting on the Facebook group “Bros 4 Hillary” (sigh) took responsibility for the coordinated attack, according to Paste Magazine. Beyond that though, there’s little evidence of who these trolls really were.
