Authorities are still trying to determine who was behind an explosion that rocked Chelsea on West 23rd Street, Manhattan on Saturday night. The explosion is responsible for the injury of 29 people as of 7:00 am Sunday, with most of the injuries coming from shrapnel following the detonation inside of a sidewalk dumpster. Another device was later discovered a few blocks away according to the New York Times, prompting authorities to close off the area and request a bomb disposal robot:
As the authorities sought to identify what had caused the explosion, they described the second device as a pressure cooker resembling the one used in the deadly Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, according to a police official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a continuing investigation.
It was unclear whether the blast on West 23rd Street had been caused by the same type of explosive.
