Donald Trump Jr.: Any Suggestions Of My Father Working With Russia Are ‘Disgusting’

It says something about how perpetually bonkers this year’s White House race has been when musing about Russia possibly conspiring to give Donald Trump the presidency is just a standard part of the political discourse.

Hillary Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook raised eyebrows during his appearance on State of the Union where he suggested that the massive DNC email leak was far from coincidental with the Democratic National Convention nearly upon us and Russia would have a lot to gain from Trump’s stance on NATO. This line of thinking did not sit well with Donald Trump Jr. and he responded with emphatic dismissal of the suggested link while chatting with CNN’s Jake Tapper.

“It just goes to show you their exact moral compass. They’ll say anything to be able to win this. This is time and time again, lie after lie,” countered Trump Jr. in his rebuttal. “It’s disgusting. It’s so phony. I can’t think of bigger lies and I think this goes to show you what the DNC and what the Clinton campaign will do. They will lie and do anything to win. It’s a rigged system. It’s disgusting and the people should be fed up with it.”

According to Trump Jr., Democrats aren’t subject to the same scrutiny Republicans are. “If a Republican did that, they would be calling for people to bring out the electric chair,” declared the 38-year-old businessman. To be fair, electric chair based chants can be a little more muddled than “lock her up” chants.

Regardless of the reason for the email leak, it’s certainly a bad look for the Democratic Party ahead of Philadelphia. DNC chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz is currently “quarantined” in the leak aftermath and further questions about the party’s internal philosophy have sprung up. The pressure’s on this week’s DNC to deliver and overcome any damage done by the unwanted exposure.
