Donald Trump Asks Rally Attendees To Raise Their Right Hands And Draws A Telling Comparison

Donald Trump’s grasp on the Republican nomination is getting looser, with Ted Cruz winning Kansas and Maine during the Super Saturday proceedings thus far. Perhaps that’s why he asked a legion of gathered supporters at a rally in Orlando, Florida to pledge their allegiance to him with right hands raised.

He began the pledge with this sentence:

“I do solemnly swear, that I no matter how I feel no matter what the conditions if there are hurricanes or whatever…”

(The crowd tries to keep up in repeating after him but it’s difficult to repeat general ramblings.)

“Will vote on or before the 12th, for Donald J. Trump for president! Thank you! Now I know!”

Then Trump delved into the supernatural liability of breaking one’s promise:

“Don’t forget you all raised your hand, you swore. Bad things happen if you don’t live up to what you just did.”

Needless to say, it seemed very pro wrestling-ish, with the supporters chanting “Donald J. Trump” when he said his name as if he was The Rock.

Naturally, Twitter reacted to this show of loyalty with an interesting comparison, considering Trump’s recent white supremacist backers hanging like a (white) cloud over his head.

One has to wonder why Trump feels like he needs to have his already rabid supporters swear to him that they’ll vote on March 12th in Florida. They’re at the rally. You’ve got ’em, Donald. Right?

Or maybe he just wanted to see the size of everybody’s hands, for reference.
