Your Guide To A Bunch Of Election Day Freebees

Even though we don’t have the day off, as a rule, Election Day is more or less a national holiday. And for going out and doing your civic duty, or in some cases to help you do your civic duty in the first place, you can collect a lot of free stuff. There’s so much food involved that it resides in a separate guide, so here’s all the other stuff.

Zipcar: The car reservation company is offering free reservations between 6pm and 10pm on Election Day to get to the polls. Make reservations now, and don’t forget to carpool!

Uber: If you’re new to Uber, use the code VOTETODAY to get $20 off your first ride. Also handy is Uber’s Election Day setup, which teams with Google when you open the app to highlight your polling place and allows you to book a ride directly to it.

Lyft: In 20 cities, Lyft is offering a 45% discount on one ride. If you haven’t used Lyft before, punch in the code NOVEMBER8th and get $5 off your first ten rides.

YMCA: Participating Ys will offer free childcare to voters so they can go take care of their civic duty without keeping the little ones in line and bored. Call ahead and ask, as not all YMCA branches are offering the service.

Newspapers: The New York Times, Indianapolis Star, Orlando Sun-Sentinel, and USA Today Network websites are taking down their paywalls and free article limits so you can look up more information on the candidates and get informed before you vote.

Gold’s Gym: Present a voter registration card or “I Voted” sticker and you can hit the iron for free on Election Day.

ACLU: It won’t come right away, but as part of their election outreach, you can get a free pocket Constitution from the ACLU.

AMC: Members of AMC’s Stubs rewards program can book free seats at a local theater on Election Day, either blue or red, and watch election returns. You can even bring two friends for free.

HistoryMiami: Finally, if you live in Florida, and if you want to relive an election almost as torturous as this one, HistoryMiami Museum is offering free admission through Tuesday, including a 2000 voting booth. Yes, it has a hanging chad.

ALSO: Some adult film stars are offering a special gift for those who won’t vote for Trump. So, uh, enjoy that too!
