Not everyone was a fan of President Obama’s Sunday night terrorism speech after the San Bernardino shootings. Both football fans and Donald Trump lit their fury on fire for different reasons. During Monday morning’s cable news followups, things got even uglier.
Fox News is no stranger to hosting shady analysts, and their latest arrived with a potty mouth intact. Lt. Col. Ralph Peters appeared on Fox Business, and Stuart Varney made the mistake of asking Peters what he said to his television during Obama’s speech. Peters took the question as an invitation to forget he was speaking on air:
“He keeps speaking about, ‘We can’t give in to our fears, don’t be afraid.’ Look, Mr. President, we’re not afraid, we’re angry! We’re pissed off! We’re furious! We want you to react. We want you to do something. You’re afraid. I mean, this guy is such a total pussy, it’s stunning.”
Fox didn’t have time to bleep the p-word, but they may not have done so, anyway. The truly unfortunate part of this exchange is how Varney’s face wasn’t visible when the p-word dropped, for the reaction must have been priceless. Peters continued with his tirade:
“Then when the president’s telling us he’s going to destroy ISIS, this is a president who has done more harm to American police departments than he has done to Islamic State. This is a president who restrains our military, he uses it not to defeat ISIS, but for political purposes, for political cover. This is a president who doesn’t want to hurt our enemies. This is a president who cares more about thugs in Guantanamo, or thugs in Ferguson, Missouri, than he does about law-abiding American citizens and their right to live in safety and peace.”
Peters’ points may have played well with the Fox News audience where such statements (about Obama’s alleged incompetence with no attention paid to true actions) are welcome. However, all the audience heard was the p-word. Nice work.
