Harry Shearer From ‘The Simpsons’ Gives Trump And President Obama’s Meeting An Animated Makeover

Harry Shearer seems poised to tackle the political tenure of Donald Trump with a new web series he’s ready to launch soon according to Deadline. In an exclusive first look, the site shows Shearer’s first foray which highlights the closed door meeting between Barack Obama and Donald Trump. For me, the nice aspect is how it blends the low key style you’d see in something like Spinal Tap or a Christopher Guest film, but has a feel of The Simpsons tossed in thanks to Shearer’s voice.

There’s also the interesting aspect behind the production, pulling in some of that South Park magic to produce the show in a limited amount of time:

The cool thing about the clip is that it was produced in less than a day, with animation courtesy of John MacInnes and Remington Scott of MacInnes Scott, who first worked together on the Activision video game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which notably rendered Kevin Spacey in full video game glory. In fact, with its experience in gaming, MacInnes Scott intend to create a VR version of the clip in which viewers will be able to see the Oval Office alongside the improbably successful President-elect.

That’s going to allow for some quick turn around if things happen and could also allow for some fun stuf off the cuff. It’s not a perfect clip or some classic of comedy, but the potential is certainly there. There’s also some potential for other folks to show up and provide some voices, which is just wishful thinking on my part but good thinking nonetheless.
