Is This Texas Man’s Personalized License Plate Actually Super Offensive?

A Texas man with a vanity license plate is in hot water after “The Man” finally figured out that he’s been rocking a hidden swear word on the back of his vehicle for the past three years. But here’s an important question: Is it offensive if no one can tell what it is?

According to Fox 2, the DMV has sent Safer Hassan a notice to get new plates after they deemed the current jumble of letters as possibly inflammatory:

The problem is the state says this puzzling alpha-numeric jumble is no longer acceptable. They told him by letter, “It has been determined that the personalization is offensive.”

The DMV has hummed this tune before, the standard for revocation:  “Would it invoke a response from other drivers that would be driving past that vehicle.”

Hassan is arguing that the state’s overreaching its bounds because unless someone was actively looking for an offensive word, they wouldn’t find it. He says not even his close friends know how to decipher the cryptic message.

If you haven’t figured it out, flip the image over to reveal what’s got the DMV so upset. It wouldn’t be polite to type out what Hassan’s plate says, but it’s also pretty well hidden. Unless you’re driving upside down. Then you’ve got much bigger problems than an offensive plate on the highway.
